Catholicism in Milwaukee has always had a strong ethnic dimension, a pattern that is most apparent on the parish level. I’ll tell the story of four parishes—St. Michael (German), St. Rose (Irish), St. Josaphat (Polish), and Our Lady of Pompeii (Italian)—and how they evolved as different expressions of the same universal faith.
