From Rails to Trails: Getting around in Southeast Wisconsin
April 7th, 2018
Milwaukeeans have used any number of transportation modes to get around over the decades, including ships, plank roads, railroads, automobiles … and bicycles. Enthusiasm for two-wheeled transportation was at a fever pitch in the 1890s, but bicycles were strictly for kids by the 1950s. Today they’re a vital component of any sound transportation plan. As part of Wheel & Sprocket’s annual Bike Expo, I’ll discuss how the transition took place and explain how biking in our region is getting better every year.
